After almost a year-long search for a new fire chief, Hutto Fire and Rescue has hired a new full-time head for the department.
The board for Williamson County Emergency Service District No. chose Scott Kerwood, who has served as chief of Orange County ESD No. 1 in East Texas for 14 years. Kerwood will start June 1. He will be the first full-time chief for the ESD that serves Hutto and surrounding areas.
Kerwood will replace chief Mark Moellenberg, who decided to retire from the department in June citing the need to spend more time with his family and his full-time job as a full-time captain from Pflugerville Fire Department. Moellenberg has remained in the position while the ESD board has conducted a search for his replacement. (more…)
