Firefighter Safety and Survival

On June 7th and 8th firefighters from around Central, North, and Southeast Texas listened intently to the message of Firefighter Safety and Survival being delivered by Chief Billy Goldfeder. Hutto Fire Rescue, along with the Williamson County Fire Chiefs Association, served as hosts for this powerful event while the Hutto Independent School District provided the venue. Reminding the firefighters in attendance to always know “…who’s in your wallet…” Chief Goldfeder emphasized the importance of everyone returning to their families following an emergency. Using real-life stories to deliver his message, Chief Goldfeder discussed topics ranging from structure fires and vehicle fires, to fire apparatus accidents and cancer. As a national fire service speaker, Chief Goldfeder was able to share stories, pictures, and videos from all across the United States of several firefighter fatalities and injuries. In fact, Chief Goldfeder either knows most of the individuals or their fire department that was involved in the accident, or actually served on the investigation team himself. Having a world renown speaker take time to deliver this message to the firefighters of Hutto Fire Rescue, as well as other local firefighters, illustrates the commitment to the concept that “Everyone Goes Home.”
